タイの首都であり、タイ最大の都市でもあるバンコク。 今春タイを代表するセントラルデパートにTHREEのカウンターをオープンしました。７月に、THREEの海外進出2店舗目となるセントラルデパートのチドロム店をオープン、グランドオープニングイベントが開かれました。 バンコク市内では、日本などのアジア諸国の他に、ヨーロッパやアメリカからのビジターを多く目にすることができます。美しくなりたいという女性の願いは世界共通。タイの女性たちのビューティへの感心の高さが伝わってくる、賑やかなイベントとなりました。 旅の楽しみといえば、ローカルフード。たった2日間の短い滞在の中でしたが、取材や撮影の合間にヘルシーでスパイシーなグリーンカレーやグリーンパパイヤのサラダなどのタイフードでしっかりパワーチャージしました！！ 日本よりも仏教が生活に根づいているタイでは、マクドナルドの店頭に立っているドナルドが、信仰を示すために「ワイ（合掌）」のポーズをしています。 ELLEの撮影風景。 今回のモデルはYada。 タイの女性たちにメイクアップを通してTHREEの表現する女性像を伝わるようにしたいという思いを込めてをパレットに重ねました。現地のスタッフともすぐに意気投合する、楽しい瞬間でした。 人々はとてもオープンでエネルギッシュ。今回の旅でも素敵な出会いがいくつもありました。 バンコクに行く機会があったら、ぜひTHREEのカウンターにも立ち寄ってみてくださいね。 THANKS BANGKOK - YOU ROCK! This spring we opened the first THREE counter at Thailand's largest department store, Central Department, our first foray overseas. The grand-opening event was held at the Chidlom Central Department store in July. Bangkok is a very international city and Central Department attracts a very discerning clientele from all around Asia, Europe, Middle East, & USA. The event was a fun and lively one and you could really feel the energy and enthusiasm. I could tell that, like Japan, the Thai women take their beauty seriously, and that they were really interested in the THREE beauty concept and were excited to experience it for themselves. Now you guys know how picky I am about what I eat - but I must say that the most fun part of the trip was the food. In just a short, two-day stay I spent what little time I had in between interviews and photo shoots, sampling local and regional dishes. I had the most delicious green curry and an even more amazing green papaya salad that I still dream of today. On an interesting cultural note, in Thailand, where Buddhism is more rooted in the lifestyle than it is in Japan, the Donald McDonald standing at the front of the McDonald's store is in the “wai”(gasshou) pose to show his belief. The ELLE photo shoot - It was so much fun to work with the staff on site and it was such a pleasure to be able to use the THREE pallet on Yada, the model who was so beautiful and really brought THREE to life. Thai people are very open and energetic. I met so many wonderful people on this trip.
